Football announces future series with Mississippi State

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis football team will play Mississippi State in a two-game series in 2028 and 2029. As previously reported, Memphis also recently extended Arkansas State in a four-game series from 2026 to 2029.
The Tigers made the announcement Thursday.
The new Mississippi State games are set for 2028 in Memphis and 2029 in Starkville, Miss. The Tigers also have games scheduled against the Bulldogs in 2021 and 2022 with the 2021 game in Memphis. The UofM's last game against Mississippi State was in 2011 and its last win came in 1993 when the Tigers defeated the No. 23 Bulldogs, 45-35, in Starkville.
Memphis opens its first season under coach Ryan Silverfield Sept. 5 against the Red Wolves at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, the kickoff to a four-game series that will be played annually through 2023. The Tigers will be playing Arkansas State for the first time since 2013 when they defeated ASU, 31-7, at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. Memphis leads the all-time series, 29-23.
