Gibson, Taylor Invited to NFL Combine

Two Tigers invited to the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
MEMPHIS – Antonio Gibson and Patrick Taylor have been invited to the NFL Scouting Combine Feb. 24-March 1 in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium. Gibson has been invited as a wide receiver, while Taylor will work with the running backs.
Gibson, the 2019 American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Year and a second team all-conference honoree at wide receiver, finished his two-year career at Memphis with 44 catches for 834 yards and 10 touchdowns, including 38 catches for 735 yards and eight touchdowns in 2019. In his senior campaign, Gibson added 33 rushes for 369 yards and four touchdowns.
As a senior, Gibson also assumed a bigger role in special teams following the graduation of NCAA career kickoff touchdown record holder Tony Pollard. Gibson had 23 kickoff returns for 645 yards and one touchdown. His KOR touchdown against SMU was one of three scores in the game for the Georgia native, helping Memphis win in front of a sold-out Liberty Memorial Stadium His performance earned him Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Taylor opted to forego the draft in 2018 and returned for a senior campaign with intentions of serving as the Tigers' primary back. In a season-opening win over Ole Miss, Taylor had 27 carries for 128 yards and a touchdown before suffering a fourth quarter injury that would cost him the next eight games.
Taylor returned to the lineup on Nov. 16 in a 45-27 road win at Houston and scored his final career Tiger touchdown in the Cotton Bowl against No. 10 Penn State.
He capped his four-year Memphis career with 45 games played and 536 carries for 2,884 yards and 36 touchdowns. His 2,884 career rushing yards are third in program history behind DeAngelo Williams and former teammate Darrell Henderson. His 36 career rushing touchdowns rank second in Memphis history with Henderson and M Club Hall of Fame honoree Dave Casinelli.
Taylor also added 55 catches for 434 yards and three touchdowns.
Memphis had three players participate in last year's NFL Combine: Darrell Henderson, Tony Pollard and Trevon Tate. Genard Avery, Riley Ferguson and Anthony Miller participated in the 2018 combine.
The on-field schedule for the 2020 combine will air on the NFL Network. The wide receivers' workout (Gibson) will be on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 3-10 pm CT, while the running backs (Taylor) will be on field on Friday, Feb.y 28, also from 3-10 pm CT.
