Track And Field Wins Eight Titles At Jaguar Invitational

Tigers record 20 top-three performances.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Jordan Wesner won the men's high jump and Paris Perkins took top honors in the women's 400 meters to pace the University of Memphis track and field squad at South Alabama's Jaguar Invitational. The results were completed late Sunday night.

The meet was held at the Birmingham CrossPlex, which is the site for the 2020 American Athletic Conference Championship in late February. The Jaguar Invitational was a non-scoring meet.

Wesner won his third men's high jump title in as many meets in 2019-20 with a 7.2-5 (2.20m) effort. It is his seventh-straight indoor regular-season crown, and his 12thhigh jump championship of his indoor career. His jump is now tied for 14th-best nationally.

Perkins grabbed the first women's 400 meters title of her career, placing first in a time of 55.83. It was her second overall indoor crown as she won the 55 meters at last year's Arkansas State Invitational.

Wesner's and Perkins' titles were two of eight won by the Tigers Sunday. The team also posted 20 top-three performances on the day.

- Parker Evans had a personal-best day at the Jaguar Invitational. He recorded personal-bests in both the men's shot put (by 7.5 inches) and men's weight throw (by 2.5 inches).
- Payton Gleason won his first career indoor title by running a personal-best time in the men's 5000 meters. He improved his personal-best by nearly 20 seconds.
- DeeNia McMiller won her third-straight women's weight throw crown of the season. It was the eighth of her career.
- Kolbeinn Gunnarsson was a double-winner with titles in the men's 400 meters and the men's 4x400-meter relay. It was the second-straight meet in which he was a double-winner. He also ran a personal-best in the men's 60 meters.
- Adar Sheere won his second career title in the men's weight throw.
- Zachary Wyatt won the third men's mile crown of his career.
- Imri Persiado had three top-three performances at a meet for the first time in his career.
- Mona Jaidi and Samantha Lenton recorded top-three finishes Sunday. It was Jaidi's fourth top-three finish of the season, and Lenton's fifth.
- Ladasia Walton posted her third top-three performances in the women's high jump this season.
- Austin Jackson (men's 200 meters), Sam Jones (men's triple jump) and Robby Watson (men's weight throw) all set personal-bests Sunday.
- Iason Machairas posted his third-straight top-two finish in the men' shot put this season.
- Jada Crutchfield set personal-bests in both the women's 60 and 200 meters for a second-straight week.
- Emannuel Cullins set his personal-best in the men's mile by four seconds.
- Erin Gilbert (women's mile), Christian Hill (women's triple jump) and Vigdis Jonsdottir (women's weight throw) all set personal-bests Sunday. It was the second-straight meet Jonsdottir set personal-best in the event.
