Rifle Hosts First Day Of GARC Championships

Kimm leads the way in smallbore action Friday.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis' Arielle Kimm shot a 581 in the smallbore discipline Friday to pace the Tigers in first-day action at the Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships.

Memphis is hosting the GARC event for the first time in program history. The Larry O. Finch Center on the University of Memphis campus is the site for the two-day event.

As a team, the Tigers shot a 2311 score, good enough for seventh place. However, Memphis is only seven points behind third-place Navy (2318).

Kimm shot a season-high 581 in the smallbore and placed 14thin the discipline. The 581 score was only one point off her career-high 582 that she shot in the 2018 Gamecock Invitational at Jacksonville State.

- Levi Clark and Taylor Gibson each shot a 580 Friday and joined Arielle Kimm among the discipline's top-20 finishers. Gibson was 16thand Clark 19th.
- Arielle Kimm improved her smallbore score by nearly 40 points from her performance in last year's GARC Championships. Kimm posted a 545 score at the 2019 event.
- Taylor Gibson was shooting in her first career GARC Championships.
- David Crenshaw improved his smallbore score by a point from a year ago.
