Tigers' freshman forward averaged 19 points and 15 rebounds in two games

PROVIDENCE, R. I. – University of Memphis freshman forward Precious Achiuwa was named to the American Athletic Conference weekly Honor Roll Monday for his performances against Cincinnati on Thursday and UConn on Sunday.

Achiuwa posted his 13^th and 14^th double-doubles of the season against the Bearcats and Huskies and finished with 38 points and 30 rebounds in the two games.

In a 92-86 double-overtime loss at Cincinnati, Achiuwa grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds to complement his team-leading 22 points. In Sunday's 64-61 loss at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn., Achiuwa scored a team-high 16 points and had 13 rebounds.

The only freshman in the nation averaging a double-double, Achiuwa (averaging 15.1 points and 10.2 rebounds) played a season-high 42 minutes at Cincinnati and a team-high 38 minutes at UConn.

For Achiuwa, he was honored by the league for the eighth time. He earned Player of the Week Nov. 25, Freshman of the Week four times and is a three-time selection for weekly Honor Roll recognition.
