Tigers face FAU on Saturday, FIU Sunday
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's tennis team is back on the road for a pair of matches in Florida. The Tigers will take on Florida Atlantic on Saturday before facing FIU on Sunday. Match times are 8:30 a.m. on Saturday against the Owls, followed by a Sunday match against FIU at 11 a.m.
Memphis was successful in its last pair of matches, hosting a double-header against SEMO and Lipscomb last weekend. The day marked the first home matches for the Tigers, who will only have four home matches this season. Memphis swept SEMO in a 7-0 contest before defeating Lipscomb 4-1 in the afternoon session.
Florida Atlantic enters the weekend 3-0, having most recently defeated Liberty last Sunday. After taking the doubles point, FAU won five of six singles courts to take its third-straight win of the season.
Barely a stone's throw away in Miami, Florida International hosts the Tigers with a 3-1 record on the spring. The Panthers also hosted Liberty for their last match, earning their first home win of the season against the Flames. Though Liberty won doubles, FIU rallied in singles play, winning four-straight courts to clinch the match.
The matches mark the first of nine-straight on the road for Memphis, who won't see an event played in the Bluff City until late March.
