Memphis women’s basketball welcomes Liberty Sunday

MEMPHIS – The Memphis women's basketball team returns home to the Elma Roane Fieldhouse to host Liberty University at 4 p.m. Sunday. The matchup between the Tigers and the Flames will be streamed on ESPN+.

Memphis enters the Sunday matinee off of an overtime loss on the road against Saint Louis. The Billikens scored the final five points of regulation and outscored the Tigers 12-4 in overtime in Memphis' 82-74 loss.
Alana Davis led the Tigers in scoring for the second consecutive matchup, as the senior notched a game-high 24 points. Senior forward Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu also eclipsed the 20-point mark in the loss with a total of 21 points and 17 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.

Liberty takes to the road for the third time in four games to begin the 2020-21 campaign. Three Flames enter the matchup averaging double figures; senior forward Bridgette Rettstatt (14.0 ppg), senior Emily Lytle (13.7), and senior Ashtyn Baker (10.0).
The Flames tallied their first win of the season with a 76-53 victory at home over Norfolk State on Tuesday, which followed losses at both Ohio and Virginia Tech. The win at home came in the inaugural contest of Liberty Arena in Lynchburg, Va.
The Flames were picked to finish second in the Atlantic Sun Conference, while Baker was a preseason All-ASUN selection. Head coach Carey Green is in his 22nd year at the helm for Liberty.
