Memphis women’s basketball heads to New Orleans to face Tulane Saturday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis women's basketball team travels to New Orleans to take on Tulane on Saturday, Jan. 2 at 5 p.m. CT at the Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. The matchup will be available to stream on ESPN+. The Tigers lead the overall series with Tulane, 29-22, and defeated the Green Wave, 64-62, last year in Memphis on Feb. 5.

Memphis heads into the Saturday matchup coming off a 75-68 loss to Houston. Against the Cougars, sophomore Madison Griggs led the team in scoring with a season-high 17 points. She went 5-12 beyond the arc and was responsible for every three-pointer recorded by the Tigers. Her performance earned her American Athletic Conference Honor Roll recognition.
Griggs was one of three Tigers to score in double digits against the Cougars. She was accompanied by seniors Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu with 12 points and Alana Davis with 10. Sophomore Aerial Wilson had a season-high 10 assists against Houston. She leads the conference and is sixth in the nation with her 47 total assists this season.
A Look at Tulane
Tulane fell to 0-2 in conference play after losing 72-64 against American leader East Carolina on Dec. 22. Against the Pirates, senior Arsula Clark scored 17 of her season-high 28 points in the second half. Senior Krystal Freeman landed on the conference weekly honor roll on Dec. 21 following a historic week in the Green Wave frontcourt.
The Green Wave is led in scoring by Jerkaila Jordan with 15.7 points per game. Krystal Freeman leads the team with 9.7 rebounds per contest. Jordan also paces Tulane with 26 assists this season. The Green Wave averages 70.4 points per game on 40.9 percent shooting from the field.
