Dec 28, 2020 | Women's Basketball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After recording five three-pointers against Houston, Memphis guard Madison Griggs has been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Against Houston, Griggs led the team with a season-high 17 points and was responsible for every three-pointer that the Tigers had on the board. She and four others lead the AAC with five three-pointers made this season.
"Sometimes we look for Madison to save us and against Houston, she did," said Memphis head coach Melissa McFerrin. "She was able to give us life throughout that game and I'm happy to see her getting back in her groove."
Last season Griggs earned a spot on the AAC's All-Freshman Team. She led the conference and was first nationally among freshmen with her 88 three-pointers. She also made the third most triples in a single season ever in the history of Memphis basketball (men's and women's).
Memphis heads to New Orleans to take on Tulane on Saturday, Jan. 2 at the Devlin Fieldhouse. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. CT and the game can be seen on ESPN+. For more information on the Memphis women's basketball team, follow the Tigers on social media at @MemphisWBB.
