Nov 04, 2020 | Men's Basketball
MEMPHIS — Tiger sophomore forward D.J. Jeffries is one of 20 players nationally on the watch list for the 2021 Julius Erving Award, the award announced Wednesday.
The Julius Erving Award, in its seventh year, is presented annually by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame to the top small forward in Division I basketball. The 20-player watch list was determined by a national committee.
The 6-foot-7 Jeffries appeared in 19 games as a freshman with 13 starts, averaging 10.8 points and 4.3 rebounds. He scored a career-high 23 points in a win over Ole Miss last November and had 18 points each in January home games against Cincinnati and SMU. A preseason All-American Athletic Conference second-team selection, Jeffries scored in double figures in eight of his final 12 games of the season.
The watch list for the 2021 Julius Erving Award will be reduced to 10 players in January and five finalists in February with the winner announced on April 9. For more information on the award, visit www.hoophallawards.com and follow @hoophall on Twitter and Instagram.
