Men's tennis powers through Utah State in shutout win

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Looking for a rebound against Utah State, the Memphis men's tennis team found its rhythm in a 4-0 win over the Aggies Sunday morning.
Memphis started in the driver's seat early, picking up doubles wins with a 6-2 win from the 21st-ranked duo of Oscar Cutting and David Stevenson and a 6-1 result on Court 2 from Jan Pallares and Patrick Sydow.
The Tigers carried the momentum into singles play, winning first sets on five of the six courts. Pallares would strike first, picking up a straight-set win on Court 1. Matt Story would follow closely, earning a straight-set win of his own from Court 6.
Jeremy Taylor finished his own match in straight sets, ultimately winning the overall match for Memphis. The Melbourne, Australia native picked up a 6-2, 7-5 win to give the Tigers the victory.
Next up for the Tigers is a match against Oklahoma State in Oxford, Miss. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
