Ana Dawson Jumps Into Top 10 at Kentucky

Team remain eighth through 36 holes.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sophomore women's golfer Ana Dawson jumped into the top 10 on day two of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational at the University of Kentucky's Big Blue Course on Saturday. A second round 71 moved her into a tie for 10th overall at 145 (74-71) with Sunday's final round still on tap. As a team Memphis remains in eighth place at 601 (302-299), five strokes behind conference foe Tulane (596).

Double Digit Jumps in Individual Race
Ana Dawson grabbed the first of two birdies on the day at five and hit the turn at 35 (-1). Another birdie on 11 moved her to -2 on the day but hole 15 took one of those strokes back. Dawson would go clean her final three holes and finished at 71 (-1) to jump 11 spots in the standings.
Abby Herrmann also jumped double-digit spots in the standings on day two, improving on her opening round 82 with a 75 (+3) on Saturday.
Tournament Leaders
Host Kentucky continues to lead the team event with a second round 287 (-1). At 582 for 36 holes, the Wildcats have an eight-stroke lead on second-place Penn State with 18 holes to go on Sunday.
Tulane's Carlota Palacios leads the field at 140 (-4) with a day two 71 following her opening round 69. Three players are one stroke off her lead heading to Sunday: Indianapolis' Pilar Echeverria, Kentucky's Rikke Svejgaard and Penn State's Mathilde Delavallade.
Low Round of the Day
The low round of the day went to Eastern Kentucky's Elisa Orduna Shackleton. After a day one 80 she carded a 68 on Saturday to jump to a tie for 18th overall. Schackleton birdied five straight holes from six through 10 to get to -6 before a pair of late bogeys on 12 and 18 moved her back to -4 on the day.
Toughest Hole of the Day
The toughest scoring hole of the day on Saturday ended up being the 143-yard, par-3 eighth hole (+0.84). The hole yielded just three birdies, 37 pars and took 21 double bogeys and four scores of triple or higher from the field. Hole 15, the toughest hole on Friday, was also a problem child Saturday (+0.72). Of the 75-player field the 15th hole scored 43 bogeys and six doubles.
Final Round Sunday
The final round of play will go off at 9 a.m. (ET) from a shotgun start. Memphis will be paired with players from Akron and Tulane and will tee off holes eight through 11. Live scoring will be available at www.GolfStat.com.
