Sep 24, 2019 | Women's Soccer
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis senior midfielder Serena Dolan has been named one of 30 women's soccer student-athletes selected as a Senior CLASS Award candidate.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
In the classroom, Dolan was named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Second Team in 2018-19. In the same season, she was also selected to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South Region Team. Overall, the health science major has spent 10 academic terms on the Tiger 3.0 list, has earned a 4.0 in three semesters and has also been listed to the dean's list twice.
Off the pitch, Dolan has served in multiple facets in the community. She has volunteered with the International Children's Heart Foundation loading and unloading supplies. She has spent time at Memphis' Target House baking and serving meals. Additionally, Dolan has spent time volunteering at Western Kings Memorial Hospital and served as a medical volunteer during a trip to Guatemala in the winter of 2018. Through team activity, Dolan has also spent time at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, participating in events such as the Zumbathon and the hospital's annual marathon in downtown Memphis.
Ahead of her senior season, the Kentville, Nova Scotia native was named to the 2019 MAC Hermann Award Watch List and was named a 2019 AAC Preseason All-Conference Team selection. Last year, Dolan was listed to the 2018 United Soccer Coaches All-South Region First Team and earned first-team All-AAC honors. As a freshman, she made an immediate impact being tabbed to the AAC All-Rookie Team in 2016. Throughout her career, Dolan has tallied nine goals and nine assists for 27 points. She has also tallied a pair of game-winning goals and has compiled over 4,500 career minutes.
