UofM opening season at Graeme McDowell Invitational in Birmingham
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Memphis men's golf team fired a 12-under 276 during the second round of the Graeme McDowell Invitational Monday at the Greystone Golf & Country Club and is in fourth place entering Tuesday's final round.
The Tigers, playing their season-opening event, are at 1-under 575 and trail first-round leader North Florida by 11 strokes after 36 holes, all which were played Monday on the Greystone Founders Course. Host UAB is in second place at 11-under 565 – one stroke behind North Florida – and Arkansas State is in third place at 3-under 573.
North Florida, UAB, Arkansas State and Memphis are the only schools shooting under par after two rounds.
Individually, the Tigers were led by returnees Isaiah Jackson and Guillaume Chevalier. Jackson shot 4-under 68 in the second round and leads all UofM golfers at 2-under 142. Chevalier, who shot 69 in the second round, is at 143.
Other Tigers competing were Rodi Vlasveld (75-70 for 145), Borja Martin (78-69 for 147) and Elon transfer William Harwood (76-72 for 148). All five Memphis golfers shot par or better in the second round.
