My Favorite Things: Kinkaid Padgett
Sep 17, 2019 | Women's Volleyball
Transfer from Georgia State helping anchor the Memphis defense.
Coaches enjoy veteran leadership, and they also love players with a defensive mindset. University of Memphis head coach Sean Burdette got both when junior Kinkaid Padgett became a Tiger in the off-season. The libero/defensive specialist transferred to Memphis after playing two seasons at Georgia State.
Â
At Georgia State, Padgett collected nearly 350 digs and had 13 matches in which she rolled up double-digit digs. She has brought that solid defense to the Blue and Gray in 2019, and her play has been pivotal in Memphis' early-season success that includes last weekend's Saluki Invitational championship run.
Â
The Tigers are 9-0 – the second-best start in program history – and host the 2019 Beale Street Challenge at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse Sept. 20-21.Â
Â
Let learn a little more about Padgett and a few of her favorite things:
Â
My favorite part about playing volleyball is… Game day because I'm competitive. I also like being around my teammates.
Â
My mindset before a match is… I'm a competitive person, and I like to have a lot of energy, communication and talk so we can have fun out there.
Â
My favorite volleyball memory was … When I first committed to play college volleyball.
Â
The three words that best describe me are… Energetic, loyal, hard-working.
Â
My role model is … My mom.
