Herrmann Posts Top 20 Finish at Tennessee Event

Senior finishes T20th at 217 for two-day event.
Senior women's golfer Abby Herrmann scored her sixth career top 20 finish with a 217 (69-73-75) at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate Championships at Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tuesday. As a team, Memphis finished 13th with a 906 (302-303-301).Â

Ana Dawson jumped 22 spots in the third round standings after scoring a 70 (-1) in her third round. The sub-par round helped her move up to a finish in a tie for 49th overall at 226. The sophomore, who posted a top 20 finish last week, shaved 11 strokes from her first round to her third round scores. She birdied two, five, nine and 13 in her final round.Â
Tournament Winners
Kent State claimed the team title with a third round 275 to finish at 830 (276-279-275), five strokes ahead of second place Charlotte. Kent State finished 22 strokes under par and Charlotte was 17 under for the event. LSU (859), Tennessee (863) and Maryland (867) rounded out the top five. Tennessee's 274 (-10) was the team low round of the day.Â
Teammates Karoline Stormo and Pimnipa Panthong of Kent State tied for medalist honors at 205. Stormo fired a second 68 to move into the first place tie (69-68-68) while Panthong went 67-69-69 for the tie. Augusta's Teresa Diez-Moliner,  Charlotte's Siarra Stout and Tennessee's Mikayla Bardwell carded the low rounds of the day with 67s (-4).
AAC Foes
Tulane was the only other American Athletic Conference school at the Mercedez-Benz Intercollegiate this week. The Green Wave finished 9th at 886, one stroke ahead of Middle Tennessee.Â
Up Next
The Lady Tigers will continue to play in events hosted by SEC schools when the team participates in the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky, Sept. 27-29. That will be the first of back-to-back three-day events on the fall calendar. The Lady Tigers will also play in the Magnolia Invitational Oct. 13-15. Â
