My Favorite Things: Caitlin Schultz

After a year off from action, graduate transfer is helping the Tigers get off to a roaring start.
University of Memphis volleyball graduate student Caitlin Schultz is not your "normal" transfer. She didn't follow a coach that she played for at a previous school. And, she didn't even play collegiate volleyball last season.
Schultz, a Port Washington, Wis., native played three seasons from 2015-17 at the University of Milwaukee. She played in more than 225 sets and posted nearly 600 kills in her three years with the Panthers. Schultz even played against Memphis head coach Sean Burdette when he was leading the Green Bay program, a Horizon League rival. Then, she took a year off from playing the sport.
Now, Schultz is back on the court and helping lead the Tigers to one of their best starts in program history. After eight matches this seasons, Schultz is third on the team with 52 kills and also has 12 total blocks. Off the court, Schultz is pursuing her graduate degree in Memphis' healthcare administration program.
Let learn a little more about Schultz and a few of her favorite things:
The thing that drew me back to playing volleyball is… (Head) Coach Sean (Burdette) and his vision. We had some conversations about what he sees for the program, and what I could bring. Even though it's for only one year, I could not be more excited to be here and be a part of a growing program.
My favorite volleyball memory is… Stepping back on to a collegiate court. That's the most exciting moment for me in my career.
The thing I like most about playing volleyball is… Being able to come in the gym every day and compete for something that I love to do. I can forget about the outside world, outside stress.
The three words that best describe me are… Committed, passionate, hard-working.
