MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Ahead of the 2019 regular season, Memphis women's soccer senior Serena Dolan and junior Clarissa Larisey were named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, the organization announced Thursday afternoon.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual honor in college soccer presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club. Semifinalists will be announced Dec. 3, and finalists will be announced Dec. 13 before trophy winners will be announced on Jan. 10.
Dolan and Larisey become the first Tigers listed to the preseason MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List since Christabel Oduro was named to the list in 2012.
"Not only is this an honor for our kids, but it's an honor for this university and program as well," head coach Brooks Monaghan said. "I couldn't be prouder of Serena and Clarissa and I look forward to them using this as confidence going into the season. They are very deserving based on the work and time they have put in, but I know they will remain humble and recognize this wouldn't happen without the help and support of their teammates."
Dolan, who earned First Team All-AAC accolades last year, returns a pair of goals and three assists to the Tiger midfield. The Kentville, Nova Scotia native started all 21 matches for Memphis last season, logging 1587 minutes. Dolan also capped her junior campaign by earning Google Cloud Academic All-America honors.
Larisey tallied 12 goals and four assists a year ago, leading Memphis in goals scored and points (28). The First Team all-conference selection was also named the 2018 AAC Championship Most Outstanding Offensive Player after a pair of goals in the finals against USF helped lead Memphis to its first conference title in The American.
Memphis kicks off its preseason camp next week before a pair of exhibition matches at Southeast Missouri on Aug. 10 and against Vanderbilt on Aug. 17. The Tigers open their 25th season of soccer on Aug. 22 against Little Rock.
