Second watch list of the preseason for the senior defensive end.
MEMPHIS, Tennessee – Senior defensive end Bryce Huff was named to the 2019 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List announced Tuesday. It's the second preseason watch list for Huff, who was also named to the Bednarik Watch List last week.
Coming in to 2019, Huff moves to a defensive end position under new defensive coordinator Adam Fuller. In 37 career games, Huff has 84 career tackles, 24 TFL and 11.5 sacks for 72 yards. He also has two quarterback hurries, two PBU, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. His 24 TFL is currently ninth in the Memphis career record book.
In 2018, Huff helped Memphis to back-to-back West Division titles in the American Athletic Conference. He recorded 49 tackles, 9.5 sacks and 19 TFL. His 9.5 sacks is the sixth-best single season mark in Memphis history and his 19 TFL is fourth all-time. A three-year letter winner, he was named second team all-conference at the end of last season, and also won the Highland Hundred's Most Improved Defensive Player award.
The Charlotte Touchdown Club, which coordinates the candidate and finalists lists for the Nagurski Trophy, also coordinates the National Defensive Player of the Week award. The FWAA All-America Committee also helps select the Nagurski Trophy finalists.
The Memphis football team reports to camp on Thursday, August 1. The first day of camp will be August 2 and fans can get their first peek at the team on Saturday, August 10 at the 2019 Fan Fest, scheduled for 4 p.m. The Fan Fest also includes an equipment sale and a post-practice autograph session.
