Track And Field's Wyatts At Panamerican Championships

Tate wins bronze, Zachary sets personal-best in 3000m steeplechase.
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica – University of Memphis track and field's Tate and Zachary Wyatt competed for Team Canada at the 2019 Panamerican U20 Championships late Saturday night, and both runners had high finishes in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase.

The Wyatt twins placed third (Tate) and fourth (Zachary) in the race. Tate won bronze in the event with a time of 9:19.23. Zachary finished fourth with a personal-best time of 9:23.80. Zachary shattered his previous-best time in the event by more than 24 seconds (9:48.01).

The Langley, British Columbia, natives continued the Tigers' presence on the international stage this summer.

In June, Tanalya Gordon competed in the women's long jump at the USA Junior Championships in Miramar, Fla. Earlier this month, Ashley Pryke (women's javelin/Canada) and Imri Persiado (men's 200m/Israel) participated at the World University Games in Naples, Italy. That same week, Adar Sheere represented Israel in the men's discus at the European U23 Championships in Gavle, Sweden.

Memphis continues its summer in international competition this week when Davon DeMoss races in the men's 100 meters at the USA Track and Field Championships. The four-day meet runs from July 25-28 on the campus of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
