MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For the fifth straight season, the Memphis men's tennis program was named an ITA All-Academic Team while Turner Voges was recognized as an ITA Scholar Athlete, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced.
An ITA All-Academic Team award is eligible for any program that reaches a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or higher for the 2018-19 academic year. Scholar-Athlete status is awarded to student-athletes who have lettered, have a GPA of 3.50 or higher and have been enrolled in their current institution for at least two semesters.
The men's program compiled a 3.325 cumulative GPA during the fall and spring semesters. Voges, who graduated this spring with a degree in marketing management, tallied a 3.62 mark in the classroom.
Friday's announcement marks the second academic recognition for the team this month. Previously, seven student-athletes were named to the American Athletic Conference's All-Academic Team on July 11.
Along with Voges, Jan Pallares, Chris Patzanovsky, Felix Rauch, David Stevenson, Marshall Sullivan, Patrick Sydow and Jeremy Taylor were named to the AAC All-Academic Team.
