Tigers picked to win the West Division for third straight season
NEWPORT, R.I. – For the third straight preseason, the University of Memphis football team has been selected to win the West Division of the American Athletic Conference, as announced Tuesday morning by the league office. The Tigers picked up 15 first-place votes and 165 total points in the preseason media poll.

Memphis finished the 2018 campaign with an 8-6 overall record, including wins in the final four regular-season conference games to claim its second-consecutive West Division title.

UCF, the two-time reigning champions of the AAC, were once again selected to claim the East Division with 19 first-place votes and 169 points. The Knights also received 12 of a possible 30 votes to win the league title. Cincinnati, who was selected to finish second in the East Division, claimed eight votes to win the league while Memphis was picked third with six votes.

The fourth American Athletic Conference Football Championship will be played Saturday, Dec. 7, at the home site of the division champion with the best conference record.
