Three-Game Football Series With Arkansas to Open in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis and the University of Arkansas will open a three-game series at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in 2025 it was announced Monday.
"We are all aware that our fans have asked for more of these types of games on our football schedule," Interim Athletics Director Allie Prescott said. "It's important for us to find ways to keep our fan base energized about the future of our program under Coach Norvell's leadership, and this is a great step in that direction. We're excited to resume this series with a Mid-South foe and look forward to starting the rematch here in the Liberty Bowl in 2025."
The series includes three games: at Memphis in 2025, at Fayetteville in 2026 and the third game of the series at Fayetteville in 2028. Memphis will also receive $1 million dollars for the 2028 game in Fayetteville.
The two teams have met five times before and Memphis leads the overall series 3-2. Memphis won meetings with the Razorbacks in 1992, 1993 and 1994 before suffering losses in 1995 and 1998. The 2026 game in Fayetteville will mark Memphis' first-ever game there as the previous two games in Arkansas were played in Little Rock (1993, 1995).
The series adds three Power 5 games to a Memphis schedule that includes a 2019 game with Ole Miss, a 2020 game at Purdue, a 2021 game against Mississippi State, a 2022 game at Mississippi State and a 2023 game against Missouri.
