Volleyball Adds Padgett To 2019 Class

Defensive specialist/libero collected 349 digs in her first two seasons at Georgia State.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis volleyball head coach Sean Burdette announced Friday that Kinkaid Padgett is joining the Tigers program for the 2019 campaign.
Padgett, a transfer from Georgia State, brings the Tigers' 2019 class to seven. In November, Memphis added six newcomers in Jada Birkel, Sabria Cooper, Gigi Crescenzo, Anna Hayes, Mia Migliore and Caitlin Schultz.

Played her first two collegiate seasons at Georgia State … Earned Athletics Director's Honor Roll distinction twice … Saw action in 54 matches in her time as a Panther (played 180-of-212 sets) … Collected 349 digs, 45 assists and 20 service aces … Had 13 double-digit digs performances …
As a sophomore in 2018, played in all 26 matches (85-of-95 sets) … Second on the team with 189 digs, and third on the squad with 2.22 digs per set … Dished out 26 assists and added 15 service aces, third-best on the team … Reached double-digit digs in eight matches, including three-straight from Aug. 31-Sept. 1 ... Tied career-high with 15 digs twice (Aug. 31/Oct. 9) … Recorded a career-high three service aces Sept. 8 …
Saw action in 28 matches and made three starts in her first collegiate season in 2017 … Played in 95 of 117 sets and totaled 160 digs, third-best on the team … Dished out 19 assists and added five service aces … Recorded double-digit digs in five matches, including a career-high 15 digs against SIU Edwardsville …
Four-year letterwinner at Muncie Central High School … Played defensive specialist and libero under head coach Wes Lyon … Helped her team win the North Central Conference title all four years and sectional championships in 2014 and 2015 … The 2014 squad was the regional runner-up … Finished high school career ranked third in program history with 177 aces and fourth in digs with 926 … Team posted a 99-38 overall record her four years … Member of the National Honor Society … Academic All-State honorable mention …
Also played for club Asics Munciana, same club that Memphis associate coach Taylor Unroe played for during her prep career … Played seven years for Asics Munciana (2010-16) and her squads combined for an 81-9 record … Teams had four top-15 finishes at AAU Nationals … 2012 and 2014 squads placed fifth at AAU Nationals.
Burdette comments on Padgett:"Kinkaid brings a wealth of experience to our program and the libero position from her time at Georgia State and her days in high school at one of the strongest junior clubs in the nation, Munciana Volleyball. Kinkaid's competitive personality and drive to excel both on and off the court stood out to me from the first time we spoke. Her high-level abilities to receive serve, defend and coordinate the back row will be a great addition to our program."
