May 29, 2019 | Men's Track and Field
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis placed three of the 11 first team honorees on the Google Cloud Academic All-District track and field team announced Wednesday. All three honored individuals -- Matthew Kamph, Adam Neelly, and Olushola Olojo, move on to the Academic All-America ballot.
Kamph recently capped his Memphis career with a degree in Sports Management and a 3.99 GPA. A native of Ewing, New Jersey, Kamph recorded four personal bests over the past two seasons, including scoring for Memphis at the 2019 American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships in the 3,000- and 5,000-meter runs. Kamph also helped the 2018 distance medley relay set a Memphis record. A member of the Tiger cross country program, he finished his cross country career with eight top-30 finishes, including a runner-up finish at the 2018 Brooks Twilight Classic. A member of the UofM's Emerging Leaders program, he was awarded the Carson Circle, the University's highest honor for student leadership, and was an eight-time member of the Dean's List. He continues to volunteer for the UofM Athletic Communications Office.
Neelly is one of three non-seniors to be recognized on this spring's all-academic class. A three-time NCAA East Region qualifier, he is also a three-time all-conference honoree. Over three seasons, Neely has posted 22 career top-three performances in all throws events. A two-time USTFCCCA all-academic team honoree and a member of the Dean's List at Memphis for five semesters, he carries a 3.99 GPA in business economics.
A four-time all-conference medalist in jumps, Olojo earned his third All-Academic honor from CoSIDA. He became the program's first track and field athlete to earn honors in back-to-back seasons last year. Olojo capped his career at the NCAA East Regional last weekend, competing in the long jump. A native of London, England, he won a gold in the triple jump at the 2017 AAC Outdoor Championships and a pair of silver medals in the long and triple jumps at the 2016 indoor championships. A member of the Dean's List, Shola also earned U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) all-academic honors in each of the past two seasons.
