Brady White Receives Extra Year of Eligibility
May 17, 2019 | Football
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Quarterback Brady White, who started all 14 games for the University of Memphis football team last season, has been granted an additional year of college eligibility it was announced Friday. White received the sixth-year clock extension due to multiple medical hardships he experienced while at Arizona State.
In 2016, White suffered a season-ending foot injury that cost him the remainder of the 2016 and all of the 2017 football seasons. He had appeared in just three games in 2016, with one start against UCLA (the game in which he was injured) after sitting out the 2015 season as a redshirt. At the end of the 2017 season, White received his undergraduate degree from Arizona State and enrolled at Memphis in January of 2018.
In his first season at Memphis, White threw for 3,296 yards and 26 touchdowns while helping Memphis to its second consecutive West Division conference title in the American Athletic Conference. White completed 246 passes on 392 attempts with just nine interceptions over 14 games.
White will have at least three new starters on the offensive line in 2019, as two-time all-conference honoree Trevon Tate, four-year starting center Drew Kyser and two-year starting right tackle Roger Joseph all graduated after last season. A pair of Tiger running backs were also drafted in the 2019 NFL Draft (Darrell Henderson, Los Angeles; Tony Pollard, Dallas), but the Tiger offense still returns 1,000-yard back Patrick Taylor (208 rushes for 1,122 yards and 16 touchdowns), 1,000-yard receiver Damonte Coxie (72 catches for 1,174 yards and seven touchdowns) and all-conference tight end Joey Magnifico (21 catches for 363 yards and five touchdowns in 2018).
Memphis opens its 2019 football season with a Mid-South showdown against Ole Miss on Saturday, August 31. Tickets for that game, and for the entire 2019 football season, are on sale now at www.gotigersgotix.com.
