Tigers awarded High Honorable Mention marks by PrepVolleyball.com.
CULVER CITY, Calif. – University of Memphis head coach Sean Burdette took over the Tigers program in January of 2018, so he and his staff had little time to assemble a signing class for his first campaign last fall.
Now, after a year at the helm, Burdette's work on the recruiting trail has Memphis turning heads on the national volleyball landscape. On Friday, PrepVolleyball.com backed that up with a High Honorable Mention recognition for the Tigers' 2019 class.
PrepVolleyball.com's signing class rankings are compiled by a network of more than 100 college coaches. The rankings factor in only incoming freshmen and do not include transfers, graduate transfers or international players.
"This is a great honor to be recognized as having a nationally ranked recruiting class by Prepvolleyball.com," said Burdette. "It truly shows the hard work and dedication this staff has put into the recruiting process this past year.
"Alexa (Wharton), our recruiting coordinator, and (associate coach) Taylor (Unroe) have worked extremely hard in building relationships with not only prospective student-athletes but high school coaches and club personnel as well.
"We can't wait to transition this freshman class in with our returning players and other incoming players this fall."
The Memphis freshman class includes: Jada Birkel, 6-0 RS, Westlake (Austin, Texas); Sabria Cooper, 6-2 MB/OH, Westmoore (Oklahoma City, Okla.); Gigi Crescenzo, 5-9 OH, St. Charles North (St. Charles, Ill.); Anna Hayes, 6-1 OH, Hartsburg-Emden (Hartsburg, Ill.); and Mia Migliore, 5-4 libero, Archbishop Hannah (Covington, La.).
Caitlin Schutlz, a graduate transfer from Milwaukee, and Kinkaid Padgett, a transfer from Georgia State, also will wear the Blue and Gray this fall.
