American Athletic Conference falls to Northeast Conference
MINNEAPOLIS – University of Memphis seniors Jeremiah Martin and Kyvon Davenport reached the quarterfinals of 2019 Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship Sunday at the Mall of America before their American Athletic Conference 3-on-3 team was eliminated.
The Northeast Conference beat the AAC, 21-20, to advance to the semifinals. The Colonial Athletic Association eventually won the title Sunday and the winning team shared the $100,000 first-place prize.
The AAC was among 16 teams that advanced to Sunday's single-elimination rounds. The AAC won its Round of 16 game Sunday against the Big South before falling to the NEC.
Martin and Davenport led their team to a 3-0 finish in pool play that was held Friday and Saturday. The American Athletic Conference included Tulane's Jordan Cornish and ECU's Isaac Fleming.
