Men's golf closes regular-season play at Old Waverly Collegiate Championship

Bawden, Jackson and Giles lead Tigers in strong field
WEST POINT, Miss. – The University of Memphis men's golf team will participate in its final spring event before the American Athletic Conference Championships when it travels to West Point, Miss., to compete in the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship.

The Old Waverly Collegiate will be played Monday and Tuesday at Old Waverly Golf Club, site of the 1999 U.S. Women's Open Golf Championships.

The Tigers are coming off a ninth-place finish in last week's Mason Rudolph Championship at Franklin, Tenn., where Bradley Bawden shot 6-under 207. Bawden posted his second top-10 finish of the spring.

Nick Giles continued his recent streak of solid play by shooting even-par 213 at the Mason Rudolph. Giles is one of three Tigers golfers with a stroke average of 72.7 or better. Bawden leads with an average of 71.7 through 27 rounds this season and Isaiah Jackson is next at 72.0, also through 27 rounds.

In addition to Bawden, Jackson and Giles, Chase Harris and Guillaume Chevalier will compete in the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship.

The field includes several Southeastern Conference teams, among them host Mississippi State along with Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. Middle Tennessee, Southern Miss and South Alabama are also in the field.

Memphis will play its final event April 21-23 at Palm Harbor, Fla., where the AAC Championship will be played on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook.
