Morneau Leads Field, Lourenco Cards Historic Ace as Tigers Maintain Second at NCAA Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Memphis men's golf team delivered a steady second-round performance Tuesday at the NCAA Columbus Regional, maintaining its hold on second place at the OSU Golf Club - Scarlet Course.

The Tigers shot a 4-over-par 288 in the second round to bring their two-day total to 9-over-par 577. Memphis trails tournament leader No. 2 Florida, which sits at 7-under-par 561 after carding a 284 on Tuesday. The Tigers hold a four-stroke lead over third-place No. 14 Stanford. The top five teams advance to the NCAA Championships at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, starting on Friday, May 29 through Wednesday, June 3.
Sophomore Christian Morneau led the field, carding a 2-under-par 69 to take the individual lead at 2-under-par 140 for the tournament. The Windsor, Ontario, native was one of just two players in the field to shoot under par during Tuesday's second round, racking up five birdies and 11 pars.
The highlight of the day belonged to junior Diego Lourenco, who recorded the first hole-in-one of the regional and the entire 2026 NCAA Tournament on the par three 13th hole. Lourenco shot 2-over-par 73 to sit tied for 15th place alongside teammate Yixiang Wang, who turned in a 1-over par 72.
Cian O'Connor is tied for 12th after a second-round 74, while Tobey Kim shot a 79 to sit in 70th place.
