DeMoss Sets Second School Record Sunday

Tigers win nine titles, record 26 top-three performances.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Memphis' Davon DeMoss set the school record in the men's 200 meters to lead the Tigers track and field effort at the 2019 Jaguar Invitational Sunday.

The one-day meet was held at the Birmingham Crossplex, the site of the 2019 American Athletic Conference Championships later this month. The site also is hosting the 2019 NCAA Championships in early March.

DeMoss improved his school record of 21.18 seconds in the event with a 21.10-second run Sunday. His previous-best came in the 200-meters preliminaries at the 2017 American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships held at the Birmingham Crossplex.

Two weeks ago at the Vanderbilt Invitational, DeMoss re-set his school record in the men's 60 meters with a time of 6.61 seconds. His 60-meters mark is seventh nationally and his 200-meters time is 32ndnationally.

Tigers Tidbits
- Memphis won nine titles at Sunday's Jaguar Invitational. The Tigers also posted 26 top-three performances.
- The Tigers swept the top-three spots in the men's 200 meters and 3,000 meters.
- Memphis set four Jaguar Invitational records in the men's 60 meters (Davon DeMoss), men's 200 meters (Davon DeMoss), men's 400 meters (Sir Newton Lee) and men's high jump (Jordan Wesner).
- For the second week in a row, Noah Agnew set an indoor personal-best in the men's high jump. At last week's A-State Invitational, he posted a 6-9.5 (2.07m) effort. On Sunday, Agnew jumped 6-11 (2.11m).
- The women's team had double personal-bests in two events Sunday. Savanna Owens and Celine Rone posted personal-bests in the women's 400 meters, and Aisha Southern and Kacie Scott in the women's 60-meter hurdles.
- Two Tigers (one male/one female) had two personal-bests on the day. On the women's side, Jamaya Fleming had personal-bests in the 60 and 200 meters. For the men, Imri Persiado did the same with personal-bests in the 60 and 200 meters.
- Parker Evans shattered his personal-best in the men's weight throw by over a foot. On Sunday, Evans had a 57-2.75 (17.44m) effort. His previous-best was 56-1.25 (17.10m), which was in the 2018 KMS Invitational held at the Birmingham Crossplex.
- Ladasia Walton improved her personal-best in the women's high jump by 2.25 inches.
- Naaman Norment nearly shaved a half-second off his previous-best in the men's 400 meters. His 49.29 seconds Sunday improved on his previous-best of 49.74.
- Zachary Wyatt sliced nearly three full seconds off his previous-best in the men's 3,000 meters.
