Women's Golf Completes Play at Icon Invitational

Fletcher finishes tied for 30th
THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The University of Memphis women's golf team concluded the ICON Invitational hosted by the University of Houston with a 15th place finish Tuesday afternoon. Memphis fired a 313 in round two before finishing the tournament strong with a team score of 294 in round three.
Michaela Fletcher and Sydney Colwill led Memphis on Tuesday, carding rounds of 72.
Three Tigers, Fletcher, Madison Thomas, and Ana Dawson, were all left with holes to play Tuesday after a first-round lightning delay pushed the schedule back for round two.
Fletcher's Tuesday round of 72 moved her into a tie for 30th place overall to lead Memphis. Colwill finished four strokes behind Fletcher to finish with a tournament total of 228 and a 47th place finish.
Dawson and Thomas also improved during the third round, posting scores of 74 (+2) and 76 (+4), respectively. Teammate Abby Hermann carded a 10-over 82.
After starting round one in fourth place, Houston carded rounds of 286 and 289 to pull away with a three-stroke victory over Purdue. Kent State finished one stroke behind Purdue to round out the top three.
Clemson's Alice Hewson was the ICON Invitational medalist with a tournament total of 207 (-9). Seven players finished the tournament at or under par.
Memphis returns to action next week at the 2019 River Landing Classic held in Wallace, N.C. on Mar. 3-4.
