Dempster, Clark Lead Rifle At GARC Championships

Tigers shoot highest team aggregate at conference match since 2012.
AKRON, Ohio – The University of Memphis rifle team closed its 2018-19 campaign at the 2019 Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships this weekend. The Tigers placed eighth.
The GARC Championships were held at the Stile Athletics Field House on the University of Akron campus.
The Tigers posted a 4643 aggregate, the program's highest at the GARC Championships since 2012 when that squad shot a 4653 aggregate. Memphis improved its team aggregate by 19 points from last year's GARC Championships (4624).
In Friday's smallbore action, junior Levi Clark shot a 583 and advanced to the discipline's final relay, where he placed seventh with a 398.8 score. Senior Leighton Dempster was the Tigers' top finisher in air rifle, placing 11thwith a 591.

- For the fourth-straight year, Leighton Dempster improved her aggregate at the Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships. She posted a 1169 aggregate this weekend. Her previous three aggregate scores were 1145 in 2016, 1149 in 2017 and 1161 in 2018.
- Levi Clark also improved his aggregate at the GARC Championships for a third-consecutive year with a 1169 this weekend. His previous aggregates were 1146 in 2017 and 1160 in 2018.
- Matt Dorey tied his season-best aggregate with a 1165 at the GARC Championships. He also tied his second-highest air rifle score this season with a 587.
- Amberlie Ezell tied her second-highest air rifle score of the season with a 584.
