Senior hits the mark in her regular-season home finale.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – It was the final home match for University of Memphis' Leighton Dempster Saturday when the Tigers hosted Ole Miss. And, on her Senior Day, she capped her outstanding career in fine fashion.

The Loranger, La., native shot a school-record 589 in smallbore to easily win the discipline by eight points. Dempster broke the previous smallbore school record of 587 set by her head coach Dan Hermsmeier and former teammate Amy Fister.

Earlier this season, Dempster tied the school record for air rifle twice. She shot a 596 twice at Army Oct. 13 and versus NC State (home) Oct. 27.

Tigers Tidbits

In their regular-season home finale, the Tigers dropped a 4665-4649 decision to the Rebels. The match featured a top-10 encounter between No. 8 Ole Miss and No. 9 Memphis
Leighton Dempster also took top honors in aggregate with her 1171 (589-582) Saturday.
With her performance versus Ole Miss, Leighton Dempster has shot aggregates of 1170 or higher in nine of 12 matches this season. She shot a career-high 1179 aggregate in a home win over NC State in late October.
Matt Dorey came within a point of tying his career-high in air rifle. Dorey shot a 588 versus Ole Miss Saturday. His previous career-high was 589 against the Rebels in Oxford, Miss., last season.
