The redshirt junior quarterback is one of 12 finalists for the award
NEW ORLEANS, La. – Redshirt junior quarterback Brady White has been named a finalist for the Manning Award, the organization announced Thursday afternoon. The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that takes the candidates' bowl performances into consideration in its balloting.

Justin Fields, So., Ohio State
Jake Fromm, Jr., Georgia
Justin Herbert, Sr., Oregon
Tyler Huntley, Sr., Utah

Â
White, a second team all-conference selection, has thrown for over 3,300 yards this season with a career-high 32 touchdowns. He continues to climb the record books at Memphis in just two seasons of action as he ranks fourth in career passing yards (6,603) and passing touchdowns (58).
Â
His 3,307 passing yards this season is the fourth most all-time by a Memphis quarterback in a single season. He needs 391 yards to match Riley Ferguson for the third-most all-time. He has seven career 300-yard passing games and he's recorded multiple touchdowns in 11 consecutive games dating back to Memphis' 55-24 win against Southern on Sept. 7.
Â
Earlier this season, White was named a Top 5 Finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. He was also named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after throwing for five touchdowns and rushing for one in the road victory against Houston.
Â
In its first 15 years, the Manning Award has recognized the top names in college football. It has honored quarterbacks from 12 different schools and from four different conferences. The Big 12 Conference (Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, Vince Young, Colt McCoy and Robert Griffin III) leads the way with five Manning Award honorees, while the Southeastern Conference (Johnny Manziel, Cam Newton, JaMarcus Russell and Tim Tebow) and the Atlantic Coast Conference (Deshaun Watson twice, Matt Ryan and Jameis Winston) have four Manning Award wins each. Oklahoma (Murray and Mayfield) joins Texas (McCoy and Young) as the only schools with two different winners.
Â
In addition to the Manning Award's yearly honor, each week during the regular season, eight quarterbacks are recognized as Manning Quarterbacks of the Week. Seventy-one players from 65 different schools were honored during the 2019 season. White was recognized as one of the Manning Quarterbacks of the Week three times this season.
Â
The Tigers are two days away from the rematch against Cincinnati for the AAC Championship held at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. For ticket information, call 901-678-2331 or go online at www.gotigersgotix.com.
