Memphis started the day with practice number three before evening fun at Main Event
DALLAS – The University of Memphis football team celebrated the Christmas holiday with practice and a fun-filled evening at Main Event Wednesday in Dallas, Texas.

The Tigers got down to fundaments on the football field in their third morning workout at AT&T Stadium. Practicing in helmets and shorts, Memphis continued to work on its game plan to take on No. 10 Penn State but also spent time refining the basics in preparation for the 84th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.

"We'll always come back to our basics. It's the most important thing we do," said head coach Ryan Silverfield. "We will always stress it – every day, every week. It was nice to see them get back into it and understand exactly what we need to execute at a high level."

After putting practice three in the books, the Tigers had a light afternoon at the Gaylord Texan Hotel. Early in the evening, Memphis took a trip to Main Event, where the Tigers participated in spirited bowling and arcade and virtual reality games.

Activities start picking up on Thursday for players and coaches. Once practice four is complete, select members of the team, coach Silverfield and coordinators Kevin Johns and Kevin Clune will be available for media at AT&T Stadium in media day activities.

At 6 p.m. Thursday night, Memphis play-by-play commentator Dave Woloshin will host the Bowl Preview Radio Show aired on 600 AM WREC with Coach Silverfield at Chill Bar and Grill in Grapevine, Texas.
