Memphis hosts Tiger Toy Drive against Red Wolves
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Staying at home for a second-straight game, the UofM women's basketball team will face Arkansas State on Saturday. Game time against the Red Wolves is scheduled for 12 p.m. Memphis is hosting its Tiger Toy Drive on Saturday, and fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to the game to help benefit a child in need. Fans that do so will receive free admission to the game.

Memphis opened the month of December with a convincing 77-52 win over UAB last Sunday. The Blazers entered the game with an offense that averaged 80 points per game, only to fall flat against the Tigers. Gazmyne Herndon and Alana Davis led the team with 15 points each, while Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu recorded her third double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
The Tigers boast several student-athletes that check in near the top of The American's leaderboards. Sophomore guard Jamirah Shutes is third in the AAC in assists, dishing out 4.2 per game. She ranks fifth in scoring, netting a team-high 16.8 points per contest. On the defensive side of the ball, Shutes is third in the conference in steals with 2.6 swipes a night.
Fankam Mendjiadeu ranks ninth in the conference, snaring 7.3 rebounds per game, including 3.0 offensive rebounds. Averaging a block a game, she ranks 10th in the league in the defensive stat. Freshman Madison Griggs has canned 21 shots from three, the fourth-most connections in the league. Her shooting percentage of 40.4 ranks third in the conference.
All-time against Arkansas State, the Tigers hold a 9-2 advantage, including a perfect 6-0 record at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
Scouting the Red Wolves
After suffering a five-game losing streak early in the season, Arkansas State has regrouped, winning its last two games. Most recently, the Red Wolves defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff by a score of 81-60. Led by Peyton Martin's 18 points, four players scored in double-figures, with 10 total Red Wolves scoring in the game.
