Volleyball Falls At Tulsa Friday

Bianco with fourth-straight double-double, goes over 1,000 assists for the season.
TULSA, Okla. – University of Memphis' Sabrina Bianco posted her fourth-consecutive double-double and Hannah Flowers downed 18 kills, but it wasn't enough as the Tigers dropped a 3-1 American Athletic Conference decision at Tulsa Friday afternoon.
Tulsa won the match by scores of 25-19, 25-27, 25-22 and 25-21. With the setback, the Tigers are now 15-10 overall and 4-9 in the league. Tulsa improves to 15-11 overall and 8-5 in the conference.
Bianco had 41 assists and 14 digs in the match, marking the fourth-straight outing she recorded a double-double. It was her 11thdouble-double of the season and 17thof her career.
Flowers posted her 19thdouble-figures kills match of the season, including the last four matches in a row. It was her fourth-straight match with 18 or more kills.

- Sabrina Bianco had 41 assists Friday for her 16th40-assists match of her career. Fifteen of the 16 performances have come this season.
- Sabrina Bianco went over the 1,000 assists plateau for the season and now has 1,004 assists. Bianco's 1,004-assists campaign gives Memphis back-to-back seasons with 1,000-assists setters. In 2018, Molly Murrihy had 1,020 assists.
- Hannah Flowers is closing in on 1,000 kills for a career. After Friday's match, the junior right side hitter has 958 career kills.
- Gigi Crescenzo collected 11 digs versus USF Sunday. The double-figures digs match was her 12thof the season. She just missed a double-double performance as she downed nine kills.
- Friday's match (24 digs) was the 37thdouble-figures digs match of Gehler's career and her 19thof the season. Gehler has posted double-digit digs in 17 of the Tigers' last 18 matches.
- Kaitlyn Gehler's 24-digs performance Friday gives her five matches of 20 or more digs this season.

First Set
- After a 3-all tie, Tulsa pulled out to a 10-6 advantage.
- The Golden Hurricane extended their lead to six at 17-11 when Memphis made its run.
- A 5-0 spurt pulled the Tigers to within one at 17-16.
- Memphis won four of its five points off Hannah Flowers' service game, including two aces.
- The Tigers, though, did not get the equalizer, and Tulsa withstood the rally.
- The Golden Hurricane pushed back out to a four-point lead at 22-18.
- Tulsa took the first set 25-19.
Second Set
- The second set started much the same way with Tulsa breaking a 3-all tie and taking an 11-7 lead.
- The Golden Hurricane increased their advantage to 17-12 when the Tigers made their run.
- Memphis' 5-0 run tied the set at 17-all.
- Memphis got kills from Flowers (2), Jada Birkel and Gigi Crescenzo in the spurt.
- From there, the set went back-and-forth with six ties over the next 12 points. The match was tied at 23-all.
- A Flowers kill tied the match again at 24-all.
- Tulsa took a 25-24 lead and had match point on its serve.
- Memphis, however, scored the set's last three points to take the set 27-25.
- Flowers and Crescenzo downed kills to capture the set for the Tigers.
Third Set
- Memphis and Tulsa stayed neck-and-neck with each other through the set's first 20 points which ended in a 10-all tie.
- The Tigers pushed out to a 13-10 advantage on kills from Sabria Cooper and Flowers.
- Memphis maintained its three-point lead at 19-16 after a Meredith Wallace kill.
- Tulsa, however, answered with a 7-0 run for a 23-19 lead.
- Memphis closed to within two at 24-22 on a Flowers kill, but Tulsa downed the game-winner for the 25-22 set victory.
Fourth Set
- Tulsa grabbed a 3-1 lead and did not trail in the set.
- The Golden Hurricane increased their lead to as many as five at 12-7.
- The Tigers made a run and closed to within two at 17-15.
- Flowers had three kills in the run.
- Tulsa, though, answered with a 3-0 spurt to extend the lead to 20-15.
- Memphis tried once again to get back in the set, closing to within two at 22-20 on a Wallace kill.
- The Golden Hurricane finished it off with a 3-1 run for the 25-21 set win and 3-1 match victory.
