Brady White and Kenneth Gainwell named to the list
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Junior quarterback Brady White and freshman running back Kenneth Gainwell added a pair of accolades to their standout seasons, as the duo were named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Midseason Watch List this week. Memphis is one of three programs nationally to have two players named to the list.
Â
The CFPA recognized the top college football student-athletes annually. The midseason watch list included 35 players across FBS. The winner of the trophy will be announced on Jan. 15, 2020.
Â
Most recently, White posted his fourth 300-yard game passing after throwing for 350 yards and three touchdowns in the Tigers' 54-48 win against No. 15 SMU. It was the eighth-straight game White threw multiple touchdowns and the fifth time he threw at least three. In the last three games, White has thrown for 985 yards with 10 touchdowns against zero interceptions.
Â
This season, White has thrown for 2,511 yards with 23 touchdowns. He is well on pace to surpass last season's numbers of 3,296 total passing yards and 26 touchdowns. Nationally, White ranks fifth in passing yards per attempt (10.33), fifth in passing efficiency (182.2), ninth in passing touchdowns (23) and 10th in passing yards (2,511).

Gainwell currently leads all freshmen nationally with 1,067 rushing yards and ranks second in NCAA with 1,521 all-purpose yards. On Saturday against SMU, the rookie became the seventh different player in program history to rush for 1,000 yards in a single season.
Â
The Yazoo, Miss., native has rushed for 100-plus yards on six occasions this season and has gained 100-plus all-purpose yards in each game this year.
Â
Memphis has a bye this week before heading to Houston on Nov. 16. The Tigers return to Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium to close the regular season on Nov. 29 against Cincinnati. Tickets for the regular season finale are on sale now by calling (901) 678-2331 or visiting www.gotigersgotix.com.
