Rifle Falls To No. 1 West Virginia

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis rifle team shot a season-best aggregate at home against top-ranked West Virginia, but the Tigers dropped the match to their Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) rival.

The No. 1 Mountaineers swept both disciplines in smallbore (2339-2306) and air rifle (2375-2348). West Virginia won the match 4714-4654.

For a second-straight week, David Crenshaw took top aggregate honors for the Tigers, shooting a 1166 against West Virginia. He shot a team-best 1167 against Army West Point the previous week.

Tigers Tidbits

David Crenshaw shot an aggregate of more than 1165 for a third-straight match. He put together a career-high 1169 aggregate at Navy Oct. 13 and followed with a 1167 versus Army West Point Oct. 27.
David Crenshaw shot the second-best air rifle score of his career versus West Virginia with a 586. He posted a career-high 587 against Navy 587.
Matt Dorey shot a season-best 1165 aggregate against the Mountaineers. He shot a season-high 580 in smallbore. His 580 smallbore score was his best outing in that discipline since last November's Jacksonville State Gamecock Invitational (585).
Arielle Kimm recorded a season-high 585 air rifle score versus West Virginia.
Taylor Gibson posted a career-high 592 air rifle mark against the Mountaineers.
