Men's golf closes strong at Kiawah Classic

UofM shoots 15-under par to post fifth straight Top 5 finish
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Four University of Memphis golfers combined to shoot 15-under par on the final day of the Kiawah Classic at Turtle Point to help the Tigers move from 11th to fifth place, giving the UofM its fifth-straight Top 5 finish.

Isaiah Jackson, the American Athletic Conference's co-Men's Golfer of the Month for October, fired a 6-under 66 to lead the charge. Borja Martin added a 68, Guillaume Chevalier shot 69 and Rodi Vlasveld closed with a 70.

Memphis shot 15-under 273 Tuesday for a three-day total of 865. Auburn won the event with a 31-under total of 833, but no school in the 21-team field topped the Tigers' score.

Auburn's Jovan Rebula was the individual champion with a 13-under 203, followed by Hunter Dunagan of the College of Charleston (10-under 206).

Jackson finished in a tie for fourth with his 66 for a three-round total of 210. Chevalier tied for 24th (69 for 216), Vlasveld tied for 34th (70 for 218) and Martin tied for 55th (68 for 222).

Other Tigers participating were Phuripon Namkang (78 for 242) and William Harwood (68 for 216). Harwood was competing as an individual.

Memphis resumes competition in the spring March 1-3 at the Colleton River Collegiate at Bluffton, S.C.
