Bianco Named To AAC Weekly Honor Roll

Sophomore setter recorded double-double performances in last weekend's two matches.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Memphis sophomore Sabrina Bianco has been named to the American Athletic Conference Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced Monday. It is the second conference weekly honor roll recognition of Bianco's career, as she was previously recognized Sept. 30.

Earlier this season, she also was named the EIU Panther Invitational Most Outstanding Player in helping lead the Tigers to the tournament crown.

It is the sixth time this season a Tiger has been honored by the conference. Hannah Flowers was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week Oct. 21 and also selected to the Weekly Honor Roll Sept. 9 and Sept. 23. Meredith Wallace was a conference Weekly Honor Roll pick Sept. 3.

Last weekend, Bianco handed out 95 assists and collected 36 digs in Memphis' home matches against SMU and USF. The transfer from New Mexico posted a career-high for digs with 23 versus the Mustangs Friday. She also had 53 assists in the SMU match. In Sunday's win over USF, Bianco recorded 42 assists and 13 digs.

She posted double-doubles (assists-digs) in both matches, bringing her season total to 14. Bianco has 14 40-plus assists performances in 2019.

Bianco leads the team with 963 assists and is second on the squad with 241 digs. She is third in the American Athletic Conference in assists per set (10.24) and second in the league in total assists (963).

Memphis heads out for its final American Athletic Conference road trip of the regular season. The Tigers play at Tulsa Friday and Wichita State Sunday.
