The Memphis Tigers
Memphis wraps up its regular season after dropping its first road match of the year at No. 6 UCF on Friday. Holding one of the top-15 offenses in the country scoreless for 85 minutes, the Tigers finally conceded a goal, which would hold until the final whistle.
For Senior Day, the Tigers will honor three individuals that have dedicated talent to the program. Sam Ashton, Jackson Morse and Ben Roberts will be celebrated for their accomplishments during their time at Memphis.
The Tigers rank in the top 30 in the NCAA for a number of offensive categories. Memphis has maintained the 19th-best scoring offense, putting in 2.13 goals per match. They also rank 17th in points per game (6.40), 22nd in total assists (32), 30th in total goals (32) and 30th in total points (96). With 96 points, the Tigers eclipse the 90-point mark for the first time since 2007.
Returning after missing two matches, Ashton's 10th goal of the season against Tulsa places him at 25th in the country. His goal total also ranks third in The American. Christoforos Kourtis, who leads Memphis with six assists, ranks sixth in the AAC.
With 10 wins now in 2019, the squad has set a new career-best for head coach Richard Mulrooney. The Creighton grad's team has set several new benchmarks this season, including a new program record with its fifth-consecutive road win after defeating No. 3 SMU.
With the AAC Championship right around the corner, Memphis currently stands in the 3-seed. With a win or a tie against USF and a loss by SMU, the Tigers would lock in the 2-seed.
A Look at the Bulls
USF last took the pitch against Cincinnati at home, taking a 4-0 win over the visiting Bearcats. USF had four different goal scorers put points on the board, scoring as early as the sixth minute before capping the scoring in the 74th minute.
Jonathan Rosales and Emilio Ycaza lead the Bulls with four goals apiece. Rosales, adding two assists, leads the team with 10 points. Ten USF players have scored a goal, while 11 have recorded an assist.
The Bulls have made their mark on the season with their defense, allowing fewer than 10 shots per game. On the year, USF has only allowed 16 total goals, an average of 1.14 per match.
