Nov 13, 2019 | Football
MEMPHIS – Junior quarterback Brady White was named one of 16 semifinalists for the Davey O'Brien Award Wednesday. In 2019, White ranks in the top 10 nationally in three different categories and in the top 20 in seven. He ranks sixth in the NCAA in yards per pass attempt (10.3) and seventh in passing efficiency (182.2) and yards per completion (15.31).
His 23 passing touchdowns ranks 14th in the NCAA and his 2,511 total yards is 18th among FBS quarterbacks.
So far in 2019, White has four 300-plus yard passing games. With his 358 yards against Tulane he surpassed the 5,000-career passing yards mark, becoming just the fifth player in Memphis history to do so. He is also the fifth quarterback in program history to throw for 300 or more yards passing six times in their careers (Paxton Lynch, Riley Ferguson, Danny Wimprine and Martin Hankins). White is now fourth all-time with 5,807 career yards as he nears the end of his second season at Memphis.
Also a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and a member of the Manning Award and CFPA Midseason Watch Lists, White is a two-time honoree for the Davey O'Brien Great 8 and Manning Award Stars of the Week awards.
White and his Memphis teammates play back-to-back American Athletic Conference games, starting with a Saturday conference clash at Houston (2:30 pm, ESPN2). Memphis closes its 2019 road schedule at USF next Saturday, November 23. The Tigers close the regular season with a home game against Cincinnati on Friday, Nov. 29. Times for both the USF and Cincinnati games are both TBA.
