Gehler Named To AAC Weekly Honor Roll

Sophomore libero collected 54 digs in last weekend's two matches.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Memphis sophomore Kaitlyn Gehler has been named to the American Athletic Conference Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced Monday. It is the first conference weekly honor roll recognition of Gehler's career.

Earlier this season, Gehler was named to the SIU Saluki Invitational All-Tournament Team in helping lead the Tigers to the tournament crown.

It is the seventh time this season a Tiger has been honored by the conference. Hannah Flowers was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week Oct. 21 and also selected to the Weekly Honor Roll Sept. 9 and Sept. 23. Meredith Wallace was a conference Weekly Honor Roll pick Sept. 3, and Sabrina Bianco earned the same accolade Sept. 30 and Nov. 4.

Last weekend, Gehler collected 54 digs (6.00 dps) and added 11 assists and one service ace. She also had 64 receptions with no errors. The Waterloo, Wis., native downed two kills.

Gehler posted a season-high 30 digs in the Tigers' first win over the Shockers in Wichita, Kan., on Sunday. The 30 digs were second to her career-high 33 digs in a home victory over ECU in 2018. She also added six assists and a career-high two kills in the 3-2 win over Wichita State.

She collected 24 digs and had five assists in a 3-1 setback at Tulsa on Friday.

Sunday's match (30 digs) was the 38th double-figures digs match of Gehler's career and her 20th of the season. She has recorded double-digit digs in 18 of the Tigers' last 19 matches. Gehler's 30-digs performance on Sunday gives her six matches of 20 or more digs this season. The Memphis libero now has 791 career digs.

Gehler is ranked sixth in The American in overall digs (412) and is seventh in digs per set (4.12)
