Senior Isaiah Jackson, newcomer William Harwood pace the Tigers on event's opening day
VERO BEACH, Fla. – Every member of the University of Memphis men's golf team fired under-par scores on the opening day of Quail Valley Intercollegiate Sunday at Quail Valley Golf Club and, as a result, the Tigers find themselves alone in third place entering Monday's final round.
Â
Memphis shot 23-under par 553 through 36 holes, six strokes behind leader Notre Dame, the nation's seventh-ranked program, and four strokes back of USF, which finished the day at 27-under 549.
Â
The Tigers, playing in their third event of the fall, will be attempting to post a third-straight Top 5 finish.
Â
Sunday, the Tigers were led by senior Isaiah Jackson. He shot 69-67 for 8-under 136 and is tied for fifth individually. Transfer William Harwood is tied for 17th after posting scores of 69 and 70 for 5-under 139.
Â
Each of the remaining three Tigers – Guillaume Chevalier, Phuripon Namkang and Rodi Vlasveld – finished at 4-under 140.
Â
Paul Folquie of Missouri-Kansas City is the leader after 36 holes at 12-under 132, one shot ahead of Notre Dame's Palmer Jackson.
