Get To Know Me: Austin Hall
Oct 15, 2019 | Football
Redshirt senior linebacker has done it all on the field, in the classroom during his career.
NOTE: The Austin Hall "Get To Know Me" feature first appeared in the Sept. 26 Memphis Football GameDay program when the Tigers hosted Navy.
With how long he's been in Tiger Nation's spotlight, it would seem the Memphis fan base would know everything there is about Austin Hall. The fifth-year senior, who is starting his 42nd career game tonight versus Navy, has done it all on the field while donning the Blue and Gray.
Â
Key pass rush that caused a turnover. Check (versus UCLA in 2017). Key interception. Check (in fact, two versus Navy in 2017; last one sealed the win). Key fumble recovery and score. Check (versus South Alabama last month).
Â
What about Hall away from the field? Tiger Nation knows those facts as well. He's already earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice and is working on his master's in public administration. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker is a three-time American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team pick and a two-time College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team selection. In addition, he's made known his career pursuit after football is done: becoming a U.S. Marshal.
Â
What don't Tigers fans know about Hall? Let's learn more.
Â
The sport I played growing up was… Baseball. I played every year growing up. I was big into baseball. We're a baseball family. I played shortstop toward the end of my baseball career, and I also played in the outfield. My brother, Kevin, played for the Mets a little bit as a catcher.
If I could have dinner with three people, they would be… Albert Pujols, David Eckstein and Yadier Molina. I watch baseball more than football.
When I'm not at practice, I am… Hanging out with my dog. He's a beagle named Boone. Other than that, I love fishing. I've started getting into golf. I play with Colton Cochran, Cade Mashburn and Peyton Jones. Golf is something I've tried, but I'm not very good.
The television show I can't stop watching is… Justified. I want to name my son after the Deputy U.S. Marshal in the show, Raylan Givens.
The No. 1 thing on my bucket list is… Horseback riding. I would not say skydiving, but it would be fun to do.
I am most-looking forward to… Getting married.
