Mallin, Murphy earn AAC Weekly honors

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – In the eighth week of the American Athletic Conference awards list, two Tigers were recognized for helping Memphis to a 1-0-1 week.
Senior Stasia Mallin was named the AAC Defensive Player of the Week, while junior Samantha Murphy was named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
Mallin registered a pair of assists in Memphis' 3-0 win at Cincinnati on Thursday. With her two helpers, Mallin has 26 assists in her career, which ranks fourth all-time in program history. Additionally, the senior helped a Memphis backline to its 11th shutout of the year against the Bearcats.
Monday's accolade marks her third Defensive Player of the Week nod and fifth of her career.
Murphy earned her first weekly honor of the season after tallying her second brace of the season and fourth multi-goal game of her career with a pair of scores against Cincinnati on Thursday, including the game-winning goal. On Sunday, Murphy logged a career-best seven shots at ECU.
After a week away from the pitch, Memphis will return to action for Senior Night against Houston on Oct. 24. Kickoff against the Cougars is set for 7 p.m. at Park Avenue Campus.
