Volleyball Drops Decision At UCF Sunday

Flowers leads Tigers with 12 kills and a .455 hitting percentage.
ORLANDO, Fla. – University of Memphis' Hannah Flowers had 12 kills and a .455 hitting percentage, but it wasn't enough in UCF's 3-0 American Athletic Conference victory Sunday.

The Knights won the match by scores of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-15. The loss dropped Memphis to 11-7 overall and 0-6 in The American. UCF improved to 11-7 overall and 5-1 in the conference.

Flowers' 12 kills were tied for match-high honors. Freshman Sabria Cooper had five total blocks and also tied for match-high honors in that statistical category. Sabrina Bianco handed out a match-best 26 assists.

The Tigers return home to the Elma Roane Fieldhouse next weekend and host Connecticut Friday at 7 p.m. (CT) and Temple Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT).

First Set
- Memphis tied the match early at 2-2 on consecutive kills from Meredith Wallace.
- UCF then went on a 9-1 run to take an 11-3 lead and put the set out of reach.
- The Knights extended its lead to nine points at 19-10.
- UCF won the set 25-14.
Second Set
- Memphis took a 3-2 lead on a Hannah Flowers kill and built on its advantage.
- The Tigers extended their advantage to three at 8-5 on a Sabria Cooper kill.
- UCF roared back with a 9-1 spurt to take a 14-9 lead and never trailed again.
- The Knights built their lead to as many as nine points at 20-11 when Memphis made one final push.
- The Tigers put together an 8-4 run to slice the lead to 24-19.
- UCF scored the final point for the 25-19 win.
Third Set
- UCF jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead and never looked back.
- Memphis closed to within one at 7-6 on an Anna Palmer kill, but was unable to tie the set.
- The Knights answered the Memphis run with a 12-2 spurt to extend their lead to 11 at 19-8.
- UCF won the set 25-15 and the match 3-0.
