A-State Invitational Schedule
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis track and field squad continues its six-meets-in-36-days Friday, Jan. 25 when it travels to nearby Jonesboro, Ark., for the 2019 A-State Invitational. The one-day meet, hosted by Arkansas State, starts Friday early afternoon and concludes later that night.
Â
The Tigers "returned" to action after a 48-day layoff from competition at the Vanderbilt Invitational last weekend. Prior to last weekend's action, Memphis competed in the Vanderbilt Opener Dec. 1, 2018.
Â
Head coach Kevin Robinson comments
"This meet is a little different for us. We haven't been to this meet in a few years. I like this meet for our straight-away sprints and hurdles and field events. Friday also is a great opportunity for the field events and other distance runners to perform so I can evaluate them.
Â
"I felt last week we had a solid performance. We have a lot of work to do and a lot of ground to make up, but we had some bright spots. I wouldn't say I was pleased, but I'll say that I'm less panicked now than I was a week ago."

Competing Teams
Alabama A&M, Arkansas State, Christian Brothers, Harding, Little Rock, Memphis, Mississippi Valley State, Philander Smith
Â
Team Scoring
The A-State Invitational is a non-scoring meet.

Tigers Tidbits
- Memphis heads to Jonesboro, Ark., for the A-State Invitational for the first time since January of 2015. That year, the meet was over two days.
- On Friday, the Tigers plan to have their full contingent of performers compete in the 55 meters, 55-meter hurdles and field events.
- The only field event that will not be at full strength is the men's high jump. Senior Jordan Wesner will not compete, but Noah Agnew will jump Friday.
- The distance group will flip-flop for its races this week. The runners that did not race last week will do so at the A-State Invitational, and those that did run at the Vanderbilt Invitational will be off Friday.
